Meet Kaye Marshall!
Kaye comes to us as a longtime friend of the Co-op and is now our Parent Educator. She and her husband are the proud parents of three MBHS graduates who attended co-op preschool when they were 3-5 years old!
You may see Kaye in the elementary schools hosting weekly Kaleidoscope® Play & Learn groups for families with children ages 0-5, facilitating READY! for Kindergarten sessions, or at Whatcom Community College teaching early childhood education classes. Many of us know Kaye as a former kindergarten teacher at Acme Elementary and now she helps guide our parents as they prepare their children for success in school.
Parent Education Meetings
What is parent education?
An opportunity… to learn more about child development, communication, positive parenting strategies and to increase your confidence / enjoyment of these important and precious years! We do not tell you how to parent your child; we offer tools, support, and a safe environment for learning and growing.
Families use connections made at parent meetings to exchange ideas, share resources, and provide support for each other. Parenting can be challenging, but it’s the most rewarding, worthwhile investment in the universe! Seriously!
In addition, MBCP has a strong commitment to keeping our children safe, and each year we provide Darkness to Light’s “Stewards of Children” training, which is a prevention program for child sexual abuse. We know this is a difficult topic for many parents, but feel that the benefit of shared understanding is worth the time and effort.
