Meet Kaye Marshall!
Kaye comes to us as a longtime friend of the Co-op and is now our Parent Educator. She and her husband are the proud parents of three MBHS graduates who attended co-op preschool when they were 3-5 years old!
You may see Kaye in the elementary schools hosting weekly Kaleidoscope® Play & Learn groups for families with children ages 0-5, facilitating READY! for Kindergarten sessions, or at Whatcom Community College teaching early childhood education classes. Many of us know Kaye as a former kindergarten teacher at Acme Elementary and now she helps guide our parents as they prepare their children for success in school.
Parent Education Meetings
Parent education meetings are a mandatory component of the co-op. The meetings are fun – we take care of co-op business, receive classroom updates from Teacher Stacie, explore the “joys and frustrations” of being parents, and get to know each other! We invite input for the content and try to rotate topics for multi-year families. Past popular topics are listed above.
In addition, MBCP has a strong commitment to keeping our children safe, and each year we provide Darkness to Light’s “Stewards of Children” training, which is a prevention program for child sexual abuse. We know this is a difficult topic for many parents, but feel that the benefit of shared understanding is worth the time and effort.
